Phyllis Victoria Banek
Phyllis Victoria Banek slipped away Friday morning on the 7th of May of 2021, she was 83. Phyllis had a big personality and a repertoire of tales to entertain anyone in her sphere/who would listen. She adored poetry, costume and jewelry design & the visual and performing arts. She loved to sing, tell and hear jokes and loved being entertained. Phyllis was that special person you remember ... who listened and comforted you -and loved you, when you felt scared, confused and alone. She enthusiastically celebrated your tiniest accomplishment as if it were a masterpiece. Phyllis will be remembered for fostering an appreciation for Bernstein, Broadway, Balanchine, Botticelli and the Beatles. She was a devoted New Yorker- the people, newspapers, architecture, museums, theaters- everything- and rightly so. She is survived by her daughter Tamil (Peter) Pullano and grandchildren James, Nina, & Francesca; sisters Geraldine, Christine, and Veronica; and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Walter, whom she adored and her parents Stella and Walter.
There is no scheduled service.
In Remembrance: should this be something you do, you can send art supplies or a donation to Mary Manning Walsh at 1339 York Avenue New York, NY 10021.
