Amy K.L. King, 87, of New York City, passed away peacefully at Weill Cornell/NY Presbyterian Hospital/Calvary hospice care. Amy was born on December 28, 1935 in Shanghai, China. She met her husband, Dr. Thomas K.C. King, on the steamship “Corfu” on their way to England for education. Amy graduated from nursing school in Edinburg as a pediatric nurse. On July 15, 1959, she married her husband at the Church of Salisbury in Edinburgh.

Amy and Dr. Thomas King lived in Hong Kong from 1967-1970, during which time she took up Chinese painting and flower arrangement. When Amy was discovered to be a talented artist, she generously shared her beautiful paintings with family. In 1970, Amy traveled with her family to the U.S. and settled in New York City for her husband’s career and the opportunities it made for her two daughters, Susan and Caroline. Amy later received an American nursing degree, and a BA from Hunter College. Amy shared her kindness for years as a visiting nurse throughout the City.

Amy was known for her gentle soul, her kindness and beautiful smile. She was a steady, supportive spouse and always loved being with her family. This past Christmas, Amy had the wonderful opportunity to share her smile, her love and her kindness with her children, grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is already missed by all.

Amy was predeceased by her husband Dr. Thomas K.C. King. She was the daughter of Hu Die, more widely known by her English name, Butterfly Wu, a most popular Chinese actress during the 1920s and 1930s. She is survived by her brother David Poon, her daughters Susan and Caroline, their spouses Jim and Jim; her grandchildren Thomas, Christopher, Kathryn, Megan, Eric, Rachel and Zachary and her great grandchildren Charlie, Kit, Shaye, Jack, Matilda and Giuliana.

A service will be held at 4pm during calling hours (3pm-7pm) on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the John Krtil Funeral Home, 1297 First Avenue (70th St) New York, NY 10021. Jacqueline (Niego) Turner of Manhattan, New York, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on March 4, 1937, in the Bronx, she was the beloved daughter of Olga and Joseph Niego. A proud New Yorker through and through, Jacqueline built a life defined by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her work. After graduating from Cathedral High School in New York City, she spent over three decades serving the United States Government with dedication and professionalism before continuing her career in the private sector with more than two decades at Bristol Myers Squibb. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence earned her the respect of colleagues across the years. In 1994, Jacqueline married Nicholas Turner, with whom she shared a deep faith and a love of dancing until his passing. Together, they made their home in Manhattan, where Jacqueline lived for the remainder of her life. Jacqueline was a lifelong and active member of the Catholic Church, serving faithfully as a lector for many decades. Her voice, presence, and reverence were well known and cherished within her parish community. Outside of work and church, Jacqueline was an avid New York Yankees fan, and she found great joy in ballroom dancing— a passion that brought her friendship and movement. Jacqueline is survived by her loving sister, Maureen Selskis, and by her many nieces and nephews: Joseph Niego, Michael Niego, James Niego, Kathleen Lawson, Patrick Callahan, Jeanne Confehr, Jacqueline Selskis, Mary Carney, and Albert Selskis. She was a devoted and cherished aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt, and she leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews who will forever hold her memory close. She is preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Niego, Nora Niego and Victoria Callahan, whom she loved dearly. Jacqueline will be remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt; a woman of faith; a loyal friend; and a true New Yorker who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
